Birthday Snacks

Birthday Snack Guidelines

Consider a toy from the dollar store, or class pencils instead of a birthday food treat that your child can pass out to friends. Your classmates remember you and the toy a lot longer than it takes to eat a birthday treat and the cost can be the same or even less. All can participate and not worry about allergies!

If you decide to order a birthday snack from the Mueller cafeteria the following procedure should take place:

  •  The cafeteria requires two week’s prior notice. In addition to the front office, your child’s teacher will also need to be notified two weeks in advance.
  • The school nurse will review the snack item and may contact you if a different item should be selected due to food allergies in the classroom.
  • A "Birthday Snack Permission Form" will be sent home to parents in your child's classroom prior to the event date, and only children that require an allergy form will be sent home individual snack forms.
  • Only children that returned the signed permission slip will be offered the birthday snack.

This is a good reason to consider an alternative birthday treat! Every child can participate when the treat is a non-food item. No forms needed and no friends potentially getting left out!
